Generic 7-subject APS estimate
Enter percentage marks from 0–100. This uses the national 1–7 achievement-level bands as a simple estimate. Universities can calculate APS differently and may exclude or weight subjects, so always check the institution's own rules.
How the estimate works
The Department of Basic Education describes seven NSC achievement levels: level 7 for 80–100%, level 6 for 70–79%, level 5 for 60–69%, level 4 for 50–59%, level 3 for 40–49%, level 2 for 30–39%, and level 1 below 30%. This calculator simply adds those seven level values.
Why your university APS can be different
Universities and programmes set their own admission requirements. A programme may require specific subjects, minimum marks or a different points formula. Some institutions may treat Life Orientation or other subjects differently. Always use the exact admissions page for the programme you want to study.
